The Great Expansion
Good morning/afternoon/evening my fabled friends and felonious foes. There have been various changes going on behind the scenes that you may, or may not, be aware of. So take this VIP backstage pass and prepare yourselves for some behind the scenes magic in play. And maybe even become entertained with the dramatic upheaval that has been my life for the last 7 weeks.
We are currently at an impasse with the artistic direction of the Giant as our following have gone eerily silent since I broke up with the wicked witch of the west. It is the audience that is going to shape the outcome of this game. The production of this game is going to continue regardless of any outside drama, of that you can be sure.
I think it is safe to assume that many of you are quietly waiting to see where everything lands. But there is no adventure in safety and no excitement in silence. So break the mold and take a leap of faith. While there is no telling where things will end up, my dedication to this game has spanned twenty-eight years and has endured all manner of insanity. It will survive this.
With the impasse of the artistic direction of the Giant, that only leaves the remastered image of the Human. The intention is to complete that before July 7th. So effectively the individual images of the races are nearly complete. Wahoo!! It has been a long educational road.
Next step is to expand the maps by adding detail, locations, and wonders. Doing this will help solidify cultures, add history, historical figures, and immersive depth. We will be adding biomes, geographical variety, and flora as well as wildlife and some magical creatures as well. The best tool I will have at my disposal, aside from artistic contributions from others, is science. Yep, I said science.
You see climates, geographical arrangements, and weather patterns all have an impact on wildlife locations, flora habitats, and obviously biome location. Having a desert next to a polar cap doesn't really make a whole lot of sense does it? Researching meteorology and the basics behind plantlife will help to make the game more realistic. In addition, the research can be archived for software engineers who will help us build simulation software in the future.
It is all very exciting stuff. We are always interested to hear your opinions, suggestions, and overall reaction to the direction we are taking this as well as where you would like to see it go. Much has been done on the Races page, so take a moment to browse through it.
